Korea's first private permanent disabled art exhibition space, 'Gallery Bada', opens in Gwacheon.
The M Group Co., Ltd.

The first private permanent exhibition hall "Gallery Bada" for disabled artists has opened at the The M Knowledge Industry Center in Gwacheon Knowledge Information Town.

Gwacheon City announced that the "Gallery Bada" held an opening ceremony at the The M Knowledge Industry Center on Gwacheon-daero 7-nagil 37 on the 11th and began its full-fledged operation.

Local figures, including Gwacheon Mayor Shin Gye-yong and The M Group Vice Chairman Kim Hyung-joon, attended the opening ceremony to shine.

The exhibition was created in cooperation with Finnwheel Co., Ltd., a employment and recruitment platform for the disabled, and The M Group, which moved into the The M Youth Startup Center, and was designed as a complex cultural space that continuously supports the creative activities of disabled artists and connects local communities and arts. Gwacheon City expects the opening to revitalize the local culture and arts ecosystem.

The exhibition hall, which has a total area of 83.51 pyeong, was created by The M Group with 100 million won, which is the total cost of interior construction. The operation is led by Finnwheel Co., Ltd., and the human rights, arts and social cooperative will take charge of the consignment operation. In this space, which is open to all citizens to watch freely, citizen-participating programs and regular special exhibitions will also be prepared in the future.

Kim Hyung-joon, vice chairman of The M Group, said, "It is meaningful to be with us to create a space for sustainable creative activities for disabled artists," adding, "We will continue to move forward with the local community through various social contribution activities."

Gwacheon Mayor Shin Gye-yong said, "The Bada of galleries is not just an exhibition space, but it is meaningful to continue to support creative activities of disabled artists and to realize the inclusive value that Gwacheon, a cultural city, aims for. We will continue to do our best to improve the creative environment and protect the rights and interests of artists."
